In a rare opportunity for statewide civic engagement, O’Connor House; Eight, PBS AZ; and the Arizona Clean Elections Commission will collaborate to present a televised and web-streamed Gubernatorial Debate with candidates Doug Ducey, Fred DuVal, Barry Hess and John Mealer. Community groups, neighborhood organizations, students and families are being encouraged to watch the debate together and engage in discussion before they cast their votes in November. Mayor Scott Smith, Arizona Republican candidate for Governor, today received the endorsement of Arizona Governor Jan Brewer, one of the most respected conservative leaders in the country on immigration and economic development. Governor Brewer's support gives Mayor Smith's campaign a huge boost of momentum going into the final weeks of the race.

In a shocking turn of events worthy of a political novel, newcomer to the political scene in Pinal County, Amanda Stanford challenges Republican incumbent in announcing her candidacy for the position of Clerk of the Superior Court.

On Thursday, February 20, 2014, the Arizona Senate approved SB 1062 the so-called exercise of religion: State Action Act.  It has been suggested that this action was necessary to avoid situations whereby a business owner may be compelled socially or even legally to provide services to individuals or entities, in direct affront to ones religious belief whether real or inferred.  What we stand here today to say is this action, if approved by the Governor, would be discriminatory and further degrades the State of Arizona’s reputation.

Believe it or not, the 2014 campaign cycle will soon be here.

On Friday and Saturday, November 15-16, 2013, The Pinal County Democratic Party will host the Arizona Democratic Party’s quarterly State Committee meeting in Maricopa, AZ at the Maricopa High School.

As a part of the weekend activities, The Pinal County Democrats will also be holding a fund raising activity saluting “Women Who Rock”.
